Top Six Stand-out Features Of The Google Pixel Phones
Google finally announced the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones on October 4, 2016 during the #MadeByGoogle event. Pixel and Pixel XL are Android smartphones designed by Google and manufactured by HTC. They were announced during a press event on October 4, 2016 and serve as Google's launch devices for Android 7.1 Nougat. The Pixel and Pixel XL are the first smartphones as part of the Google Pixel line. Today I am sharing the best stand out features of the Google Pixel Phones.
Google Assistant
Pixel is the first phone to have Google Assistant built in, that could give users on-demand access to Google’s next-generation virtual personal assistant software. The Assistant is triggered by a hot word or by touching and holding the home button.
Google Smart Storage
Google’s Pixels have a great feature that ensure a user’s phone never runs out of storage space. It works efficiently by deleting photos and videos from the phone that have already been backed up to Google Photos when it needs to make space for new files. Then, when a user wants to access those media files, the phone can download and restore them from the cloud.
Google Pixel Launcher
Google's Pixel Launcher is exclusive to the Pixel phones, and is the new name and version of the Google Now Launcher. In the Pixel Phones, Google replaced Google Now with the Google Assistant, a better calendar icon that shows you the date in a quick glance, a good app drawer, new, round app icons, and many more. Google might bring it to more devices but don't get your hopes up for this happening in the near future.
Virtual Reality
Both Pixel phones are the first to support Google's virtual reality platform, Daydream. You are able to play VR games and watch video apps like YouTube, Netflix, and HBO directly using the virtual reality experience.
Pixel Camera
Google finally made a good camera app named Google Pixel. The app well suits along with the Pixel’s 12-megapixel camera that touted as the best camera in any smartphone. With features like white balance control and exposure compensation, it’s a lot more capable than the old Nexus camera app. A new "smart burst" mode can capture a stream of shots, and Google uses artificial intelligence to choose the clearest, best shot. The camera also uses HDR+ by default with "zero shutter lag" to achieve the maximum dynamic range for each and every shot.
24/7 Support
If you’ve got a errors or issues with either with the two Pixel phones, you can go to the settings menu and launch a voice call or chat session with Google’s customer support team which works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From there, you can also choose to allow screen sharing so that the Google employee can control your device and show you firsthand how to fix whatever's not working right.
Other Specifications
Pixel uses an aluminium chassis, with a glass panel on the portion of the rear housing the camera and fingerprint sensor. The phones have a USB Type-C connector supporting USB 3.0, for power and data exchange. They both use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 system-on-chip, with 4 GB of RAM. The two models are differentiated by screen size; the standard and XL versions feature 5 in (130 mm) 1080p AMOLED and 5.5 in (140 mm) 1440p AMOLED displays respectively. Both models are offered with either 32 GB or 128 GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage. Pixel features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, which uses an f/2.0 aperture, and a Sony IMX378 sensor with 1.55 μm pixels. The camera uses a digital image stabilization system tied to the phone's gyroscope and motion sensors at a sampling rate of 200 Hz. To improve capture speed, 30 frames are continuously captured per second while the camera is active. When a photo is taken, up to 10 of these frames are composed to form a single image.
